First visit to the dealer

Post by Reynoma »

I hit 6,500 miles as I pulled into my dealer (Burns Pontiac near Cherry Hill, NJ) for the Vibe's first oil change. The service book also calls for a tire rotation. (Yes, I know I skipped the 3,000 mile oil change). As I pulled up (this dealer has a "drive through" service desk), the service rep commented on my yellow Grafxwerks overlays (thanks Ryan!). Anyway, the dealer's "standard" 6,000 mile service has an oil change, tire rotation and brake inspection bundled together ($71 after taxes). I also had the emergency brake tightened (under warranty) and the plastic panel on the hatch put back on (also under warranty). Overall, a very good experience. Then on a walk of the lot, I noticed several frosty, several abyss, one salsa, one lava and one fusion vibe - a mix of mono and two-tone. NO GTs, only base. A total of about 12 Vibes in all. I was surprised that not a single one was a GT.

I still have yet to really have any warranty repair service done at my dealer.. I have a few minor issues I have lived with for over a year but nothing to warrant an immediate repair. They're really selling/producing a ton of the base models.

Unfortunetly, it is the same color as mine and parks at the same center city garage as me. So, more times than I care to admit, there are two Abyss Vibe GTs parked next to one another. I've never seen the driver.

I was at the dealer for my 3rd Oil Change (8,000 miles). Bought a ten oil change card for $120 there at the 1st oil change (1,500 miles). So how do they make any money? They wanted to sell me various "inspections". I declined. I was surprised they didn't tell me I needed an air filter. At my second oil change (4,500 miles) I had a Procare coupon that included the tire rotation an brake inspection for $20 total plus tax.
