Hey ZedTim i can rememer flicking the tv channels and coming across cable 10 they use to show rally competitions in Miss" parkinglots. how about if we can get a bunch of Vibes&Matrixs together and have a rally cometition
a few weeks ago, I met a guy who runs a driving school and does these solo races.I mentioned that i have this involvement in gen vibe and there might be some interest from members re getting a course going. I checked out the web site and it looks like these guys knw what they are doing. The course could be run in the durham region and they told me that if there was enough interest, then the school would set up a closed course just for Gen vibe (and matrix) memberscost for the day is approx $150
all we need is 15 people at 10 a car and you have yourself a cheap fun day. sounds like a great Idea I'm in spread the word guys snow is going to fly soon
Sorry zedtim, but it would be 150 per person rather than total for the actual course, I am not sure about the lapping days.The course is a legit driving course.I am plannig on taking his winter driving course, so if any one else is interrested let me know
$150/person!!!! That should include a car and gas too! Is this on a road course at a race track???? your local autocross (see pic) competions (solo racing setup on parking lots) would cost you $20-30 for the day so whats the extra expense here?-phil

ahhh....in that case the expense is justified and not a bad deal. I'll be driving a track day next spring at Gateway International....it should be very educational! Good luck w/ the laps!

I was speaking to him and his brother Peter (also an instructor)the web site is www.carcontrolshool.com Hope this clears up any confusion. We would be looking at a lapping day at one of the race tracks in the area. Either Shannonville or Mosport would work.
Its great....you will thoroughly enjoy it. Definately a big rush!! It is widely known that the Celica GT is the best car to compete in GS (stock class). What is great about the vibe is how similar it is to the celica and it really scoots around the courses. I am still a novice driver really but i have consistantly beaten everything from WRXs to Corvette Z06s. the vibe is really a very neutral handling car and tap the brakes lightly mid corner and the rear end will very predictably rotate around....just add the gas when you want to cease sliding sideways....tons of fun! I would suggest getting better, grippier tires though....im running kumho ecsta's and they perform very well for the amazing $56/tire that i paid for them!! If your really serious then i would highly recommend Falken Azenis.....best tire for autocross....although if you compete in stock class then you can actually run slicks!!! im in a street prepared class b/c of my intake and strut brace so i cant run slicks.....weird rules i know!

I hopw that running a few laps will give me the push that I need to get into solo racing. Biggest ploblem is that I would need to get another car to so it.We'll see

I have a couple of buddys that set up cone courses for BMW I'm sure if I asked them and we could find a big enough parking lot they would set something up for us... probably have to give them a 24 or something but that is about it. will ask if there is enough interest I don't want to waste their time or the favor they owe me.
i like that idea, but until we have a fir sure from a few people i agreee don't waste their time or a favour incase there is a poor turn out. If it makes a difference i am in!!!
Parking lot solos are ok but nothing is better then letting lose on road course. Shannonville is nice because it is flat and very few things to run into,but Mosport a blast to run on corner five is the best!

I would agree with you there.... that is if you make it past turn 3 an inch left or right and 5 KM too fast... it's over the corner will swallow you wholewell at least from my experiences with mosport anyway
