Scratched 17" allow update

Post by Craigmri »

As many will remember, my local dealer scratched the heck out of my 17 inch OEM alloys when doing a wheel alignment check. One wheel was gouged pretty good and the other three each had four 1/2 inch scratches along the wheel edge were the alignment head attached.Today they replaced the gouged wheel and touched up the other three. Overall I'm cool with it and have moved on.My advice to Vibe owners with OEM alloy wheels........If your car is headed for the alignment rack grill the service manager before they do it and insist no damage be inflicted to your wheels.Craig

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to keep this in mind when I have an alignment done after lowering my Vibe. I would most likely have the alignment done by a private shop, not a dealer in this case. But of course, by then, I might have my chrome wheels on it. In which case, I would be more than peeved if the shop messed up my chrome wheels.

I have been burned before where a shop has scratched wheel on my previous car. 1989 Buick ReattaNOW--Here is what I do..........I make the write up person look at each wheel with me and note that their is no damage and I very nicely proceed to explain to them that if any wheel comes back damaged that YOU will replace that wheel. They sometimes don't like it but --that just to bad. I will not accept anyone telling me that that mark was already there when I know it was not.So far no damage. James
