check engine light again!

Post by satur9 »

after my last post in the other thread my cel is back on. my question is this? when you take it to the dealer do they look under the hood when they pull a code or just hook up the scanner. i do want to disconect my nitrous kit(a real b****)which by the way i havent used in weeks, for them to check the code and its something stupid. i dont have a intake so i doubt its the maf.has anybody tried autozone everytime i go there for anything they just stare at my car cause they never heard of it.and all thier tools and stuff is old so i dont know if theres an updated code scanner for gm(or is it toyota) or will the old one they usually have pull the code. also if i just leave the kit in can they charge me for the service time to pull the code just because...( i bet they can blame any cel on nitrous.)
look my sniggies, i had a strizz-oke in my brizz-ain okay, you know what im saying. so i cant move all good. but thanks for mentioning that .thank you very much.athf4evr. click here! you know you want to!!!

You should buy a code reader. They work on all makes and models so if you get a new car you don't need a new code reader. I paid $150.00 Can. which is $115.00 US. After you get the code# there is a guide to tell you what the problem is. If there is more than 1 code it tells you each of them. After you have read them you can reset the CEL.

There's an oxygen sensor in front of and behind your catalytic converter. The computer compares them, and usually the front one varies a lot and if the converter is working, the rear one hardly changes. When the converter goes bad,the post converter oxygen sensor reads the same as the pre converter o2 sensor(varies a lot)and sets the cel on.In other words, your converter is no longer functioning. It can also be caused by a malfunctioning o2 sensor, but usually not.Things that kill the converter are engine misfire, inadequate secondary ignition voltage, using a lot of oil or coolant(internal engine problem),or excessively rich engine fueling.
