fuel gauge problem

Post by huy397 »

Hello all, I filled up my Vibe today and strangly the indicator DID NOT climb all the way to the top when I re-started the car, instead, the indicator pointed to the first-grid and climbed slowly to the top. It took about 4km. Once it reaches the very top, it stayed there like always and dropped accordingly. Can anyone shed some light onto this issue ? thank you

I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens again.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

It's not that cold today, only about -2 CAnd there had been colder days when I filled up but this did not happen then. The engine is warmed up a little ( the gas station is about 2 or 3 km from where I live ).I will keep an eye on this...

In some vehicles, the signal from the fuel sender is buffered to compensate for fuel sloshing in the tank.I can't tell from the service info if the vibe is this way or not.You might keep track of how long it takes to "catch up" and see if it is the same every time.I don't pay close attention to mine but I will now to see what's up...

I've been disappointed in my fuel gauge lately. Seems like the low end varies a lot. Today, I thought I was limping into the gas station on fumes, but could only get 11 gallons in it. I have been consistently getting about 36 mpg, and had 400 miles since my last fill, so 11 gallons was about right, but this time the gauge had me pretty worried. This is what the gauge was showing, with apparently 2 gallons left in the tank. (engine running when picture taken)

It came on when the needle was above E, I just tempted fate a bit. Still, with the gauge that low, I expected it to take more than 11 gallons

I consistenly get about 400 miles on 11 gallons. About three days commuting and misc miles. Sometimes, after 400 miles it'll be right at or a bit above E and take 11 gallons. THis time it was 400 miles, 11 gallons, and was a lot farther below E than I thought it should be. So, my problem is that the low end of the fuel gauge isn't behaving consistently for me. I am having better results judging how much gas it will take based on how far I have driven than I get from the reading on the fuel gauge. Anyway, didn't mean to hijack your fuel gauge issue thread with mine. Have you had the problem with the gauge not reading full after you've filled up again?

It's all good, any information is good information Look on the bright side, at least the warning light is still working properly.I am still on the same tank of gas so I won't know until next time I fill up. But I sure will come back and report.
