Clear taillight assembly with colored circles and bulbs?

Post by Kari »

Has anyone seen one of these at all for the Vibe? I've seen them on several other vehicles, mostly Hondas, but I really like how they look and I'd like to look into getting some for my Vibe, in the event that they actually exist..

Yeah, they're hot. I want some too.Seen 'em for the Matrix, but AFAIK, no aftermarket tails for the Vibe have been made yet.

Would the Matrix ones fit, I wonder? Or are they wired for the backup lights too?

quote:Would the Matrix ones fit, I wonder? Or are they wired for the backup lights too?Well, aside from being wired for back up lamps, they are a different shape. Notice in the picture below. Matrix light cluster cuts into the door line, unlike the Vibe, which has a straight uninterrupted door edge. Completely different designs.

one of the worst brands to mod is pontiac, if you look at aftermarket parts websites, many of them don't even have pontiac as an option, let alone the vibe. i myself have been wanting the euros, but i don't think they will ever appear.

I saw some of the taillights like this on an S-10 today, so American cars aren't totally excluded...I wonder who we would need to express interest to, to get them to produce some of these lights for the Vibe. I'm sure a lot of people would be interested.

Wasn't the Malibu sort of a "family sedan" though? You can find things for the Cavalier and the Sunfire...so why not the Vibe?

Some people can get them custom made, though they don't look as well. They just now started pumping out the tail lights for the Grand Prix, Grand Am and Sunfire. Although the SF and GP's options are ugly.

I'm still waiting for these too. It seems if it's a car and has an American companies name attached to it, they take forever to bring them out. They have tail lights for Astro Vans. Who fixes up Astro vans?? I have the same problem with my GA. Luckily, I found a company who makes all things for GA's. Now, someone needs to start doing stuff for the Vibe!

Yeah, I'm waiting for these, too. Altezza is a common maker of these taillights and the name has become almost synonomous with this type of light. Their website had a list of designs that were "coming soon", meaning that they were already starting to develop them. The Vibe was one of the "coming soon" styles when I checked a few months ago. So far, I don't think they have been released. The Matrix ones came out in no time, though. That does suck. I'd like to sue them for being prejudiced.

What I always found somewhat funny, was that people call these "Euro-style" lamps. If you look at all European cars, all of them have amber lights in their taillamps, I believe it is the law. (Please correct me if I am wrong) If you look at most Altezzas, all it is is red brake lights and clear backup lights (If they even have those) No amber anywhere Not really true "Euro" style lamps, but I guess people are willing to overlook this detail to make their rice-burner a little more "continental."Why people gotta be hatin' on da Amber, f00? I can't stand cars WITHOUT the amber signals in the rear, it just looks so wrong w/o it.That being said, if they make a non-gaudy set for the Vibe that includes amber signals, I'm so there

they do have amber signals, otherwise they wouldn't be street legal. the whole euro thing, i think is kind of like saying rice. i am guessing that rice is very common in europe (i saw a program on tv where a guy makes ferrari's out of civics)i have been wanting euros for a long time, i could get them for a caravan, but not for my vibe!

You don't need amber in the rear to be legal in America. Most American cars actually only have red and white back there from what I remember.

The Vibe operates with an independent amber signal.Either is legal, though I have felt lately trends are going to a rear amber signal.

As long as it is one or the other. Most euro and aisan cars have a seperate amber turn in the rear it is the law in euro countries not quite sure about aisa. Probably see it in more american cars because of the increasing safety regs; I think all cars have a HMSL, high mount stop light, now. They came about because american cars as a rule use a flashing brake light to indicate a turn, it was found that people with vision problems(color blind, cataracts) could see a light that only lit up under braking better and could react quicker than seeing in some cases a very marginal difference between brake and turn in a conventional taillight assembly. As for the lack of any kind of aftermarket taillight I think it sucks, I wish APC would get their tooling made and put some out there for us.

Dude, I hate to burst your bubble, but "Altezza" isn't a manufacturer name, it's the slang term given to all these type tails because they first appeared on the Toyota Altezza in Japan (which was called the Lexus IS when they started selling it in the states)... I think not Vibes because the majority of people I see driving Vibes around my house, (not counting the members on here) are like between the ages of 60 and 70 and I gues the aftermarket companies think they are the only ones to drive vibes. But yeah this is pisssing me off because teh Mazda RX-8 has count less mods already and its only been out, what, a half of a year?
