May have to give up the Vibe

This probably wont happen, but my mom told me she might lose her job sometime in the course of next year, thus losing her company car. She will have to use the Vibe...She abuses that thing so much already I can't even imagine her driving it every single day:(If this does happen though, I'm going to have to buy myself a car. These are my three choices so far: 1988 monte Carlo SS, 1986 Toyota AE86, or a 1980's Datsun 280zx. I want something under $4000, and it has to have under 110,000 miles if it's japanese, and under 90,000 if it's American. It also as to be a car sort of sporty and able to be worked on:) any other suggestions you guys might have?

Find an older Series 2/3 VW GTI.You can do a whole lot for one of those, not sure about cost though, might be able to find one for under $4k.Sorry to hear about your mom too, I hope everything works out for you guys.

I don't want a new car, I want power, a project car, and one that looks good. I probably wont get the AE86 because thats too much work to make those things run how i want them to. So now I gues it's between the Datsun and the monte carlo and I'll have to look into the VW Geo suggested. I don't think she will lose her job, shes been saying that for about 3 years now lol. But just incase it does happen I'm saving my money so I can buy a car right away.
