Air Filter

Post by jake75 »

I did a search here and all I found was some references to a KN FIlter at about $57 plus shipping. Is there a FRAM or something like that available at a reasonable price ($20 or less) from an auto parts store, Wal-mart etc.? I can install an air filter - don't need to pay the dealer $50 to do this.

There hasn't been much discussion about regular replacement engine air filters, most of it has been about replacing the whole stock intake with a CAI or short Ram.In addition to buying a filter from etiher a Toyota or Pontiac dealer, you can also get filters fromWix (www.wixfilters.com) PN 46834 Purolator (www.pureoil.com) premium plus PN A25463Although those ***************** at Fram don't list either the Matrix or Vibe on their website at http://www.fram.com, they do list corolla, and the engine air filter for a corolla is a CA9482. On the wix site, that fram part numbner cross references to the wix part number above, so Fram CA9482 should work.Same stock filter for base and GT. I haven't priced any of theseCan usually get Wix and Purolator filters from auto parts stores, Fram at Walmart. And yes, it is easy to replace the stock engine air filter --------------------------A thread about the cabin air filter is http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id ... ---ANybody know of any other web sites for looking up filter part numbers?

Thanks for the education. These forums are great. Sometimes I trade cars before I need to be concened about air filters - just did that on my 3 yr old 2001 PT with 26,000 miles. It was probably overdue for an air filter change.

Unfortunately, I haven't found anyone around here (Chicago) that carries the filter. Meijers, Pepboys, Walmart, K-mart, Autozone, none of them carry any of them. Pepboys will only order the K&N for me, and the other store won't (havn't checked with Autozone yet).

Pontiac Truck then Vibe(SUV) Sounds like they have a different opinion of the car than I do. Maybe I won't get a Fram just on the principle.
