Anyone think about getting front end only painted....

Post by robdog »

Was considering just getting the front end facia painted while the paint is still new looking on the rest of the car. Maybe get a few extra coats of clear or something to keep it looking better. Or perhaps asking if black primer underneath is available to use. I have abyss and under that is white primer. It looks crappy. Why would you use white primer on a black car I would never know....suggestions.....

I had been giving some thought to a flame or scallop job; something that would cover the chips, but not require a complete re-paint...

They probably just prime all the body parts with white primer. Actually, I think it is a light grey to be honest. You can get away with a light primer under a dark color, but not vice-versa. Takes way too many coats of paint to cover up. And remember, basecoat is as few coats as possible to achieve good coverage. The depth and durability of the finish is from the clearcoat and the additives to it.
