I lost 2 gallons of windshield-washer over the week-end due to lose in a ose going from the pump. This happend while I was washing my windshield. The fluid stop shooting. I tested the back glass and it was working, so I though the front pump does dead. But 2 mins later, the low windshield washer fluid turned on.Once a destination, I filled-up a little bit the tank and right away I saw fluid on the ground. So I jacked-up the Vibe and removed the platci part who protect the tank, and I saw the ose hanging. I reconnected it, thinking it will fit the trouble. Then I filled-up the tank again. It was not leaking, until to turned on the pump. The ose disconnected right away, and I lost another gallon of windshield-washer fluid. After that, I reconnected the ose and attatch it with a tie-wrap as to tight it on the pump. Also, I put another tie-wrap to attatch it closer to the pump, and avoid too much movement while I use the pump.
It's probably good it happened now instead of later this winter. Do you think the hose stretched? If so, it may be a problem a lot of us will have in the future. I guess I better carry a couple of tie-wraps in the car.
I was very surprised to see I seem to 1st to have this trouble. But the way it is set up, I could happend to some other people, for sure.Carrie tie-wrap and 10mm wrench and you will have all the toll to fix this on a permanent basis. The ose was somewhat loose on the pump. The rubber stretched a little bit and it was not tight engout to handle all the pressure when you use the pump. The ose was moving a lot while the pump was sending fluid over it, that's why I attatched it to the low fluid wire sensor.I though about going to the dealer with this, but I'm sure the will only change a part of the ose and it will streatch again in few month.
