2004 vibe , water leak=-

Post by jamesmetairie »

2004 vibe, about 189,000 miles. windshield replaced 8 years (??) ago. Vibe painted above pin stripe a few months ago. No rust anywhere on the vehicle.Suspect leak origination spot = the black plastic trim that sits in the rain gutter from the top corner of windshield , passenger side . It runs from near windshield to the forward most bracket of the roof rack mount. I noticed after the paint job the black plastic trim was loose at the forward edge near the windshield . I just tired to push it down hoping it would click into place.
Question = is it likely the paint guy popped that trim off during the prep work? If so how was the vehicle built ? Is there some type of clip that black plastic trim snaps into. I,m seeing just a little water on the head liner corner near the plastic pillar forward of the the passenger head .
Thanks for any advice. Jamesmetairie

This drawing shows how the 2007 Matrix trim is held on with clips. https://www.japan-parts.eu/toyota/us/20 ... e-moulding I don't know how the water seal is made in the gutter between the door panels and the roof, but it's reasonable to assume that age and the recent work broke something.

I,m thinking perhaps the clip is riveted and the water enters around a loose rivet. The act of pulling the trim off of the clip damaged it. Thanks for the diagram.
