Radiator Fan FYI

Post by wagonis »

Hello fellow Vibers,

Was parked for about 10 minutes with the car running and the temp gauge decided to show off and shoot up like it lives under a bridge downtown.

My vibe is a 2007 Base with the 5SPD manual and according to every auto parts store (local & online) the radiator fan is different between the ATX and MTX models. Yet, if you look up the same year Matrix and/or Corolla, the radiator fan is literally the same regardless of the transmission option.

If you look up the fans, the MTX version is about $200 or better but the ATX version is roughly $80. However, since the MTX version wasn't available, I went to a local u-pull yard, pulled one out of a 2005 Corolla MTX and slapped it in with zero issues.

For whatever reason, the part number is the same for all the below models EXCEPT the base manual version of the Vibe...but trust me, it'll work if you have a manual Vibe like myself.

So this is just an FYI in case anyone runs into an issue trying to locate the radiator fan assembly for a 2003 - 2008 Vibe with a manual trans.

Great advise and thanks for posting. Both of my Vibes are manuals and if I ever need to replace the radiator, I'll refer to this post. ;)

You are more than welcome, lord knows how much advice I got off these forums myself so who am I not to help others in the same way.

Now, if I can just figure out how to stop the windshield from leaking water, I'd have solved all my Vibe issues lol
