2004 Pontiac Vibe Engine Swap

Post by caydeebr »

My engine has gone bad and I am looking to swap it and I found a 2007 Toyota matrix motor and I'm guessing it has a automatic transmission and I want to swap that into my 2004 Pontiac vibe with a manual transmission. Does anyone know how compatible this swap is? Anything I need to know if I do attempt this?

depending on how complete the new engine is, there may be some things worth doing before you put it in, such as intake manifold and valve cover gaskets, timing chain tensioner o-ring, etc

you'll want to use your current throttle body, since your cable throttle 04 Vibe's computer won't know what to do with an 07 Matrix drive by wire throttle.

if you do it yourself, take a ton of pictures as you take the old one out so you'll have them as reference when you put the new one in. Some of that hose routing can be ambiguous
