Just think in a mere 25 years the fine Pontiac Vibe that we are now all driving will be antiques. Honestly since I've been driving around in mine for a little while now I thought "wouldn't it be cool to keep this car for that long?" My goal is to have my Vibe until it becomes and antique and I can take it to shows as the first year of the model. Besides by the time that comes around I'll be nearing retirement. If I win the lottery though I'm going to buy another one and not drive it just keep it around until it is an antique. Yeah I'm pretty much a dork in case you were wondering. I mean how many people plan on having a car for 25 years just a few weeks after they buy it?
Won't you please be...my neighbor?Hello neighborKevin

I was planning to keep my WS6 Trans Am for 25+ years before I even ordered the thing. My dad kept his '79 Trans Am for almost 25 years and I intend to do the same with mine. It's like a family tradition. Hehe...we're all dorks!
In January of 1980 I bought what I thought was a cool car, a 1979 Dodge Colt (made in Japan) with a 80 hp SOHC engine, dual range 8 speed tranny (2 speed reverse). I had a blast with that car! Thought I would keep my first car forever (lol). It has probably been scraped long ago. I had a bigger blast with the Yamaha RZ350 and RZ500 I subsequently bought with the cash I got for selling the colt. Good luck keeping your Vibe for 25 yrs biggdogg

I wish I had your determination Kevin. I've had around 23 cars since I started driving way back in 1977. Mostly clunkers and a few new ones. The only car I wish I had never gotten rid of was my first car, a 1975 Plymouth Duster with a slant 6. I even went off roading in that car at the site of what was to become Giants Stadium. I am leasing my Vibe, and I know when the lease is up, my "disposable" nature will surface and I will want something different. Come to think of it, I also miss my 1973 Z28 Camaro.......ah, now ya got me going down memory lane!
quote:Hey frosty! You still have that RZ350??? I'm looking for one in a bad way... now those were the coolest bikes goin.Happy vibe'n My head still snaps to attention when I hear a two stroke bike. There are a few in town, and I see the odd RZ350 that gets my right hand twitching. I really enjoyed the 350 better than the 500 because it could be thrown around easier and it's limits were more accessible. The 350 was way more reliable and easier to maintain also. If I see one for sale do you want to hear about it? Ken.

Interesting "throwback" post! I purchased my "new to ma at the time" 1992 F-150 in the fall of '91 just after the model changes took place. Still own it but needs some TLC and fresh paint. Only 65K original miles on it BUT sat outside all this time (33 years). Was driving commercial vehicles for 25+ years back then and it rarely got driven.
I think it’s awesome that you’re already thinking about keeping your Vibe for that long! I’ve always been drawn to the idea of holding onto a car that means something to you, especially when it turns into a classic. If I had the chance, I’d probably do the same—maybe not the lottery part, but having a car that’s part of your journey and then showing it off at a car show years down the line sounds pretty cool. It’s not dorky at all, just a good way to keep something you enjoy around for the long haul.
I get it. My '67 Mustang is my retirement project (though it's already an antique!). Keeping a car that long is a commitment, but totally worth it if you love it.
