Phantom Posts

Post by MadBill »

Quite often lately I've noticed that on both the Forum and the "Today's Active Topics" summary, the most recent posts do not appear when I open the thread. For example, scanning the list, I see a 10/19 post re Sylvannia Lights. When I open the thread, the last post showing is dated 8/18 and is by a different member. Where are the newer posts hiding?

When a moderator or administrator modifies a thread (ie. moves it to another forum or edits the topic, etc.), it becomes active again and adjusts the timestamp to the time the action was performed. Also, if there is a poll involved, anytime someone votes it will make the thread active and update the timestamp even though there may not be any actual 'post' that matches that date.Hope that made sense.

Ah, that explains it! (But said explanantion also implies that the "Sylvannia Lighting" topic has just been moved, presumably from "Exterior", whose description includes: "...lights,...", and in which remains another similar topic: "SilverStars Spotted", to "Audio and Electronics", whose description doesn't include lights. Curious... )
