HELP needed - P1037 (O2 sensor low voltage)

Post by Jammin81 »

Hello all! I need some help with this error code (assuming it's the downstream sensor) but wanted to be somewhat sure.

I haven't had an error code for a while and this came up suddenly and without any warnings.

I got the error code and a very slight smell of exhaust fumes. I got under the car and the are no holes or immediate indications of warm air escape / air leaking.

Assuming a faulty sensor on the bottom / by exhaust. I have an 07 vibe and can I get away with after market parts ? Anyone with experience on OEM / Afterarket stuff? What was the original OEM brand for the sensors also? The book says nothing......

Thanks in advance. Peace!

I just dropped the whole exhaust to repair a leak at the flange between the CAT and the manifold. I had no problems pulling that sensor. I didn't have the right wrench, but my large adjustable worked fine. I dripped some DOT3 brake fluid on the threads--that's a great penetrant as long as there's no paint around.

I didn't have to replace any parts other than the gasket. I used OEM for that. I tried buying one at the parts store but it was the wrong shape, conical rather than spherical. I also replaced the bolts and springs at that joint.

The only way I could see the leak was by pressurizing the exhaust with cold air from a shop vac up the tailpipe, and spraying with soapy water.

My leak was partially caused by a failed rear motor mount. The flanges wouldn't line up. Replacing that was another story. Just an alert--mine is also '07.

Non-OEM for the sensor should work fine--I've done that on other cars. If you end up having to replace exhaust parts, pay attention to whether you're in a CARB state and if the car will ever be inspected for emissions.

Thanks for the reply and good luck with the exhaust! I had to replace the donought gasket before with a p24 something error code. I hadn't had any hassles till I got this error code though.

I'm hoping it's just a faulty sensor and the car is at 125K miles so probably needs to be changed.

What's the OEM brand for the sensor? AC Delco or denso / Toyota?

Thanks again <

Here's the part number from Toyota: 89465-02190. It seems to be branded with Toyota's name.

Thanks I found and replaced it with a Denso sensor and praying it fixes it. I will find out when it comes to driving a distance.

Thanks also <
