Had To "Jimmy" Door: Help With Door Dings/Scrapes?

Post by 2010VibeRed »

Hey all. Hope your Vibes are still giving you as much fun as mine is.

I stupidly locked my keys in my car and didn't have another set of keys. With the help of friends I eventually did get it opened, but the driver-side passenger door was damaged a bit due to use of a crowbar. I have included a photo of the damage marks, which is on the black area of the door.

How do you suggest I go about repairing this section? Is there a touch-up/plastic-like (or rubber like?) product I can use?

Further, I never had a second key. When I look to get one made, they seem to be very expensive especially with the remote opening/locking feature. Can I simply get a copy made locally; a basic one that I can use to manually open the door?

Thanks for reading and for any help you can offer. All the best.

I can't help with the 2010 key questions since I have an 08 and 07 and they are different with the security/fob.

As far as the trim, I have used a flat black touch up pen on some areas that had chips and it is not noticable but your area has a little more damage. I would suggest trying to smooth out where the coating is bunched up and see how it looks from there. I realize it won't cover everything but you might assess how bad after to you that to see if you wanted to use a touch up pen, perm marker, leave it, etc.

Thanks for your reply and help VibeNation2024. I'm going to smooth the area out a little. Then I'll try those ideas.

Thanks again my friend.
