3rd brake light , question=--

Post by jamesmetairie »

The light malfunctions often . The small , light gray color, electrical part that the blub snaps into question=---- Is that part sold aftermarket ? Toyota only sells the whole assembly..
I wiggle the bulb and then it,s ok. Perhaps there,s some way to make the bulb sit firmly in it.

For my 2007, it would be this part: https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem/toy ... 60037.html

For other years, check at this site: https://www.japan-parts.eu/toyota/us/

I know the part says "License plate lamp," but here's the catalog page: https://www.japan-parts.eu/toyota/us/20 ... -stop-lamp

If you can wait till the fall/winter, I'll have my original OEM assembly, off of my 2004 Vibe GT, available to anyone who would want it. I'll be getting back on the LED special "high mount brake light" project, very similar to what I did to my 2009 Vibe Gt some 14 years ago. :o

Old post but I had similar reoccurring problem with that bulb failing to work so I will post for others:

I found that the bulb was seating too far into the socket. I placed a very small piece of paper into the very bottom of the socket (think thickness of a paper clip) and now for the past ~three years the bulb has worked fine without issue.
