Hello there Hello there

Last June 2023 my 2003 Vibe had a NO CRANK NO START power windows down! So I went under hood checked fuses replaced all the mini fuses, 30s 40s and low and behold seen that 100a and snatched it out! Found out after the fact two bolts holds it in! Went on YouTube found out how to really replace/fix it and low and behold as I tightened the smallest bolt I tightened it too much and the head broke offff! The car still wouldn’t crank/start!

Found out on YouTube it was the STARTER RELAY SWITCH/FUSE so now I’m looking in owner manual and no info on location STrelay switch..back to YouTube and found it! It’s located behind the drivers side a/c vent! No tools needed just good finger grips from the top it pops out. The original STRelay has a purple top and off-white body.

Called the Toyota place and get the great news Pontiac no longer exists along with their parts lol but here’s the part no. So I call the nearest advanced auto they had one went there got it put it in and car started right on up!!!!

I was soo happy I went riding and then the battery/alt check engine lights appeared and disappeared so I drove over bff house chilled for few hours and upon leaving I start the car and my lights flickered and I was like wth so I drove home power windows down check engine battery lights appeared again.

I parked and now my windows will not go up! I immediately returned the STRelay with a hassle we don’t do returns on electrical parts...I got my money back and went to NAPA and got one and it still wouldn’t crank start!

Finally broke down and went to AUTOZONE bought a new starter removed it replaced it and it started right on up! Like a champ ! BUTTT still no windows radio a/c fans key fob etc…

Now I’m thinking that first STrelay from advance auto blew my 100a fuse!!! Uggggh Remember that dang small bolt I broke off!?
Now I have to go back to remove it and it was a very difficult task but I did get it out and it was melted on one side in the fuse box.”

Any suggestions from anyone would be appreciated!!! I seen on EBAY where I could buy a new/used fuse box …Is it possible that it can be replaced??

Apologies for my lengthy message.

I'd like to help, but I'm not sure if I'm confused by the way you explained it or just can't follow your troubleshooting logic.
The first time you had no crank, no start, were you getting accessory power? Your windows would still work with a faulty starter. Did it all appear at once? Did you have any electrical problems before? What was the thinking behind replacing ALL the fuses? Did you have your battery connected while you were working on those electrical parts? Your starter issues shouldn't be related to your alternator/battery light.. It sounds like something got fried in the process. You are describing separate systems as a single issue.

Have you tried calling around to local scrap yards to see if they have any Vibe/Matrix sitting around? You could probably salvage a bunch of parts you will need that way, without having to pay new prices for everything individually. Might be worth checking if corollas use the same parts to make your search easier.

Thanks new member for replying back! Apologies I proofread my messages and check for clarity and errs just to make sure one could follow along..anywho
UPDATE: I went to local pullapart and grabbed 100A fuse 5mm bolt and starter relay ... My car is now drivable (removed) still NO POWER WINDOWS AND NO SUNROOF.. everything else works just fine.. like the horn lights radio a/c power door lock key fob etc.

In the beginning I experienced A NO START NO CRANK..had accessories and then eventually they went out with my front windows down SO I checked and changed allll mini fuses 30s 40s top hood and below dash..and when I got to that 100A..I snatched it out... learned afterwards two bolts hold it down.
Inserted wrong type from advance auto and it melted on one side plus I overtightened the smallest 5mm and broke the head off. Had to drill bolt out.. now all that is fixed with the 100A from the junkyard which looks just like original with silver legs. I bought 100a from NAPA and it looked different copper legs and was just a smidge longer so I didn't use it.
Before all of this I had no problems.. car worked fine and maybe l might have had the battery hooked up when changing mini fuses can't remember all I know is too..DISCONNECT NEG WIRE!!!!
The car is now starting great the only light on in dash is airbag..no more abs, check engine, battery lights.
I've had this 2003 VIBE 5 years and this is battery #2. I've never had to change fuses starter alternator soo that's the main reason why I changed out all fuses with new ones.
Right now I need help locating the POWERPOINT RELAY.....in a 2003 VIBE
Thank you so much!!

Re: New member - power windows power

The POWERPOINT relay is in a hidden relay block above the glove compartment. There are some pictures and discussion in viewtopic.php?t=5078 However, the only thing the POWERPOINT relay powers is the 12V outlet at the bottom of the console between the seats.

The power windows and sunroof get power from the 30A POWER fuse, which is a big one in the under dash fuse block. Here's a pic showing which is the POWER fuse. For a quick test of the POWER fuse, you could swap it with the DEFOG fuse (DEFOG powers the rear window defogger, which you likely don't need this summer ;) )

The POWER fuse feeds the P/W relay. The P/W relay is on the top side of the under dash fuse block. You should be able to get to it by removing the flip out storage bin left of the steering column, and/or grabbing and pulling out the air vent/mirror control panel. Here's a pic showing which relay is the P/W relay

I really appreciate your help today joatmon!! I didn’t see them when I was last under there changing the mini fuses lol!
ONE thing I noticed….that the fuses weren’t in the same order as shown in the diagram. ( see pics below)
Not sure but—- I put the new 30a’s back the way I pulled them out. The 40a is still okay so I didn’t replace it.
One things for sure MY WINDOWS AND SUNROOF ARE WORKING!!!
You deserve a TIP!!! Pm me
Anywho my baby is back on the road again!!!
Once again thank you JOATMON!!!! You rock💯
