Parking brake cables for 2009 Vibe AWD

Post by Jimgrass »

So I picked up a Vibe 2009 AWD. Because backing plates were rusted out I had to buy some from Toyota. Now mechanic called and stated that the old cables broke and there is no listing anywhere aftermarket.

I called Toyota and because I don’t have a VIN for a matrix she couldn’t tell me if they would fit. She provided me with 2 part numbers for which they can get which is parking break cable 2 right hand side part #46420-02170 and parking cable 3 part #46420-02160

Wondering if anyone can assist here. Garage has had it for 2 weeks and was supposed to be a gift for my daughter next Tuesday so I am hoping someone can shed some light either aftermarket or Toyota.

Thanking the group in advance.

I use this Toyota parts website: http://www.japan-parts.eu/toyota/us/ If you can figure out the right frame code and characteristic for the Matrix equivalent to your Vibe, it's a pretty powerful tool for part numbers.

Hello,

I also have a 2009 Pontiac Vibe 2.4 L AWD and need to replace the left and right parking brake cables (GM 19184311 and 19184312). Looking at the equivalent 2009 Matrix AWD parking brake cables (Toyota 46420-02170 and 46430-02170), they do not look equivalent in length. ChatGPT also suggests that the parts are not interchangeable. I have yet to find any other non-OEM vendors that make a parking cable for this particular Vibe model. Does anyone have a vendor with part number that they have used when replacing rear parking cable for 2009 Pontiac Vibe 2.4 L AWD? Do you think a universal parking brake cable set could work and if so........any vendor/part number that would be best?
