Can't Change or Add my Avatar

Hello Admins,

I wanted to update my avatar today, but could not complete the task.
I thought deleting the existing avatar would allow me to add a new one.
Instead I have no avatar now and can't add one.
Is there a problem with my account or is the problem with the site?

I see that. The only option is to delete your avatar, but there's no option to upload a new one, or select one of the stock forum avatars. Haven't changed my avatar for a long time, so I don't know when that disappeared. Hopefully a mod or an admin will be able to help you (us) out

I too lost my avatar about a year ago or longer and just lived without it. It is still there when I go into my profile and hit "edit avatar" and shows up as the current avatar, but does not display it anymore. No big deal

Glancing at the avatar page, it appears that there's a glitch with the image storage location.

There are two sets of 'avatars'. One is a set of gallery avatars. That looks to be missing, or the permissions are wanked. The other is a place for you to upload your own avatar - and that looks like it's in a read-only mode, so it's not available for use.

I has been two months with no reply and no repair of the feature.
I would like to update my avatar with my new Vibe.

can't say why you haven't gotten an answer yet, but in the meantime, maybe you could find a way to get the Vibe into your signature, something like this image

Not sure what joatmon is doing right, but his avatar is the only one showing up in this thread.

I don't know what I'm doing right, other than it has been over a dozen years since I changed my avatar, and I'm not about to try to do it as long as this issue exists.

Looking through some of the really long threads, such as how many miles or what did you do today I can see I'm not the only one who still has an avatar show up, but avatars are getting really sparse

Maybe it's a deliberate thing because download/file.php?id=169 didn't win the banner contest ten years ago

Well, here is a 4TH request to fix the avatar problem.
I was able to add an avatar when I joined 3.5 years ago.
I lost that one when I tried to update it with my new Vibe 15 months ago.
Can an admin please acknowledge that this can be corrected or not?

It has been another 15 months, and I still can't add (re-add) my avatar.

it would take a lot more than that post to convince my kids I'm cool

looking at various phpBB issue sites, seems like the avatar problem could be something simple like permissions on a directory, or something more obscure like an errant blank line in some config file. None of those things are anything we users can resolve, (and I can only imagine the havoc we'd wreak if we had access to try to fix it)

Here is my 7th request to have the avatar problem fixed. (LUCKY #7? )

As a Vibestock 2025 award winner, I would like to update my avatar with my newest Vibe.
I would sincerely appreciate it if one of you could investigate and repair the avatar problem that surfaced in 2022.
Heck, I could even send a small payment if that woud entice you.....
Vibes aren't gone and forgotten yet.
Let's keep this board working as well as we keep our Vibes working!
