As per Richards (Rasermon) request I'm going to post some info about my new ride. I Just came back from a 1300 klick road trip down to Southern Ontario for some bird at the outlaws.I really do not want to compare the Vibe GT I had to the WRX. The $7000 CDN price differance makes it an apples to oranges and this makes it an unfair comparison. I had allot of fun in the Vibe and you can't find a better car for $28,000. So I will try not to bash the Vibe. The WRX is in a differant league as far as performance and handling. The sedan I have keeps the grin on my face for hours, and I have a hard time containing myself. Gobs of touque and that 227 hp with the turbo sits you back in your seat. The awd makes cornering a dream and I can't wait to see this car in the winter. The Wrx is not as practical as the Vibe GT I had. It is harder to get in and out of and you must sit low in the seat to have the head room. There is no room for the rear passengers, when you have the front seats all the way back. The 200w cd in the vibe blows the system in the WRX away. The only good point that it is an in dash 6 player. I will have to change the speakers and dust off the 10" sub I have with the 400w amp. The driving position is low and the seats are a dream. They have major side supports for all the G's you get in the corners. Shifting with the 5 speed is not as notchy, but I wish I had a 6 gears like in the GT. The turbo kicks in around 2700 rpm, This is a nice change to waiting for 6000, rpm management is easy.I only race I had so far was with a Acura TL on the 401. Not even close, he came up behind me in the centre lane and drafted me for a few klicks. I dropped it into forth and punched it, the image in the mirror just got smaller and smaller. I hit 215 kph on the speedo and he was way back............so much for break in.That is all for now.
I've read that the WRX is a VERY fun car to drive. I'm jealous because I'm having a bit of torque withdrawl after getting rid of my prior daily driver (97 Z-24 5-speed).

Just got a qoute for this little tune up from Vishnu;I Think that I will ask for the following package from Vishnu for Christmas: During the last one year of its availability, no other WRX performance package has garnered so much praise for its unique combination of reliability, drivability and exceptional value. From synergistic matching of seeming dissimilar components, we’ve been able to maximize performance while minimizing engine stresses and avoiding the typically accepted trade-offs. Race-proven on road courses around the world, Stage Zero represents our vision of providing properly engineered package upgrades that yield nothing but reward and enhance driver enjoyment. Expect a perfectly trouble-free 275-285 horsepower with greatly reduced turbo lag and improved engine response. This system will transform the somewhat a stock and somewhat anemic WRX into an ultra-responsive, torque-laden and extraordinarily potent street performer. Package Includes: 321 Up-Pipe Kit Underdrive Pulley Unichip Engine Control System Adjustable Manual Boost Controller Colder NGK Spark Plugs Silicon IC Hose Upgrade (optional) Vishnu Billet Battery Tie-Down Lachute Subaru in Quebec will do it for $2465, all in. Ye Ha.
I thought that I would drop by Genvibe and see what was happening….It had been a long time. I have done mod work to the WRX at ADP Motorsports in Toronto. I have added an up-pipe, down-pipe, full MRT exhaust, ECUTEK ecu mapping, and a K&N air filter. I have bolted a set of 17x7.5 OZ Superleggeras with 225/45R17 Bridgestone S-03's. The car was tested on a four-wheel dyno for a 315 BHP result.
quote:Just curious, why did you ditch your GT so fast?=quote:The car was tested on a four-wheel dyno for a 315 BHP result.Old man!! I was wondering if you were still around and how you were doing. Glad to hear from you!
The WRX was the car I wanted originally….but could not find a wagon available at the time. I then went for the Vibe GT or Matrix XRS and GM had a “get out of your GM lease at no cost†program on at the time….soooo Vibe GT it was.I liked the car, but was having issues with mod market (lack of) and potential winter driving problems. As time went by I found a great deal on a WRX Sedan….jumped on it……and the rest is history. Thanks guys....yes I'm having fun....
