was driveing down the road and the check engine light came on at the same time the car started running sluggesh. Once I was home to inspect what it was I noticed that the engine wasn't missing . but when I hit the gas that when the sputtering starts . need some help
The check engine light means at least one diagnostic code has been stored. Take the car someplace to get the code(s) read. In some areas, auto parts stores will do it for free.
After you do this and you if don't figure out the problem yourself, report back with the code(s) and tell us more about the car--age, mileage, engine and transmission type, recent maintenance at least.
x2 what andrew said. I will also recommend buying a Bluetooth code reader... ELM327 code reader off of eBay. $5 code reader, paired with either the FREE Torque Diagnostic app, or with the paid version of TorquePro ($5) and you can pull darn near anything your car has a sensor for, excluding ABS/SRS codes in most cases.
