Front suspension replacement

Post by 2006 »

Due to impact damage, I want to visit a wrecking yard and remove the strut/spindle/hub/bearing/lower control arm as a unit to replace mine. It's a base 2006 FWD. Are the components interchangeable for all 2003 to 2008? Thank you in advance.

For the front suspension parts you mentioned for 03-08 cars are interchangeable. The AWD and GT's have the same front suspension, with the exception of the AWD sway bar being thinner.
The 09-10 FWD 1.8L cars should be the same too, but the spring rates might differ. Also, the 09-10 2.4L cars are completely different.

Solid info. You could also look at a Matrix and Corolla from 03-08.

I remember there being something different about the Corolla front suspension. Something about the mounting angles or bolt sizes at the Strut/control arm, maybe? It might work as a set, but could complicate replacing the struts in the future.

i think the only difference with the corolla setup was the upper studs are a smaller diameter? or it might be the big bolts connecting it to the spindle. one of those two holes needs drilled a bit to enlarge it.

Thank you for the responses, as always it is greatly appreciated. I'm just waiting for an appraiser to come take a look at it before I can do any work on it.....no collision.
