no a/c or a/c light, no rear defrost light 2003 vibe

My girlfriend took her 2003 Vibe AWD in for an airbag recall. Afterwards, the A/C light and the rear defrost light won't come on, and the a/c won't engage. The dealer is insistent that their service would not have affected anything and will not assist us any further. Where should I start on troubleshooting this? I pulled the A/C fuse and it's fine, but that's about as much time I could tolerate upside down standing on my head with the steeringwheel crushing me (who the hell picked the fuse box location on this thing?). Any input is appreciated.

Start by pulling off the bezel containing the buttons and surrounding the radio. Sounds like the plug that goes into the back of those controls was disconnected and not reconnected.
