Stores will sell gaskets for vibe oil pans but don't waste your money. They came from the factory with just a sealant, rtv or some such goo, but no actual rubber, fiber or cork gasket
I dropped the pan on one of mine and tried to use an actual gasket, and it squished out of the gap and would have leaked like crazy. Took it back off and just used some goo, the orange hi temp permatex stuff.
The job involves
Raise the car on ramps or jacket stands
. . . Securely, nobody wants a car to fall on them . . .
Drain the oil
Take out the oil pan bolts
Pry the oil pan off
Clean the old sealant off the engine block
Clean the oil pan, any old sealant and any accumulated surface gunk from the leak
(I finish cleaning by using brake cleaner on the mating surfaces to ensure grease free metal for the next step )
Run a bead of sealer on the pan or the bottom of the block, one or the other but no need to do both
Put the pan back on being careful not to smear the goo sideways and bolt it in place, don't remember spec'd bolt torque
Wait a while for the goo to cure before adding oil and running the engine
So cost is pretty much only labor, maybe one or two hours. Mechanic shop rates are a lot higher than mechanics actually get paid, so maybe up to $200 if you take it somewhere
