Moon and tunes crackling

Post by wiiman3893 »

Hi everyone, I've got a 2003 vibe base model and the speakers are crackling to the point where they're unusable. It's down to a single working tweeter on the driver's side.

I'm looking for a permanent fix. All speakers are getting replaced anyway, but I'd like to do this as painless as possible, meaning ID rather not rewire the whole thing with my head unit. I've searched for the fixes people use in the forums, but can't seem to find a definitive cause. Can anyone tell me what specifically causes this? Is it a bad amp?

Does the car have a sub in the rear? How many speakers are crackling? Does it make a difference when you adjust any of the radio settings, ie volume, treble, bass, fader?

I don't believe it has a sub. The last crackling speaker is the passenger door, but all did it until they blew. I'm down to one speaker with sound, and another with crackling. There's no difference adjusting settings, only when I turn off the head unit does it stop.
