My introduction and first question.

Post by BowlingVibe »

Hello all I am the proud owner of a 2005 Baseline manual Vibe 230k and still going strong. I am a 82-70 pinsetter mechanic and network analyst in Milledgeville Ga. I've had The Cranberry Loaf (Wife named it) for 2 years. It's been a awesome car and while I have kept up basic maintenance on it I haven't been able to do any upgrades or mods until now. I will be replacing the clutch, slave cylinder, blower motor, brakes, along with doing a big 3 upgrade, an oil change and tinting the windows this weekend. I will be purchasing everything locally except the blower motor which will be ordered from CarParts.com. Has anyone here had any experience with this company and there products? The price seems a little to good to be true.

Welcome to genvibe!

My guess is you're looking at the $38 generic part vs. the $120 AC Delco part.

If you plan to keep the car for a few more years, I'd get a branded (e.g., GPD) blower motor for a little more $, assuming the motor is really burned out and it's not a fuse or resistor issue. You get what you pay for...

What is a "big 3 upgrade"? Haven't heard that one before.

Welcome to GenVibe "Cranberry loaf " Love the name :D If you're a pinsetter mechanic then you're probably pretty good under the hood of cars also! Make sure the blower motor is truly dead before spending any $$$ on another one. They rarely fail, and is almost always a component supporting the blower motor instead. Post pics of your maroon colored vibe when you get a chance. Mine is SRM (sport red metallic) and love the color!

The blower motor isn't dead but one of the magnets inside the unit itself is broke and causing the fan to grind against the housing when ran higher than fan speed 1.
