is a 2.4 litre good stuff=-

Post by jamesmetairie »

We,ve had a couple of base model vibes in the family already.
Now I,m getting ready to look at a 2009 vibe with the 2.4 litre.
All that extra h.p. should be interesting.

I,d appreciate hearing from some one that owned a 2.4 vibe.
As always I thank the genvibe community for advice.

Never owned the 1st gen 1.8L Vibe so I really can't compare. But I can comment on the 2.4L engine with a manual to Automatic comparison. The auto "really" scoots and takes off when you want it to. I was really impressed with Junior's Vibe GT when I had to drive it recently. Passed up someone while doing 55mph and I swear I was up to 80 in 5 seconds! Didn't expect that much pep out of this small car. My manual on the other hand is just fun to drive and I control when to shift it 8-)

Hey James! I can say I did enjoy the 2.4L in my old 2010 GT. It ran pretty well IMO. My son drove it for a few days and did enjoy the extra power it had over his 06 base Vibe. The only drawback was I only got about 24-25 mpg on my commute, vs 27 when I drove my son's car. But others on here get better gas mileage than I did. Maybe I just drove it a bit harder? I would like to get another one someday, a twin to Tim's red manual GT.

I'm still running those old Radial TAs on my 03 GT. I ended up selling one of the wheels to another member in Houston, so they helped me out greatly. Thanks again!

I've gotten as high as 34 MPG with 100% highway driving in my Vibe. I've got a K&N Typhoon short ram air intake with an AEM Dryflow air filter and Magnaflow catback exhaust.

I love my 09 GT manual.

It's certainly peppy in the higher RPMs, but doesn't have a lot of power. More responsive than my V8 Silverado

I do all driving around town, and don't necessarily baby it, yet I will get at least 23-24 MPG (with winter closer to 22-23)

If they put a turbo on it from stock and made 230 HP, it would be perfect.

All in all, I love it.
