Where is the VSS located?

Post by jmcc777 »

Hi guys, new here.

I'm having a lot of trouble trying to find the vehicle speed sensor on my 06 vibe. I haven't had use of my Speedo since I had my clutch serviced about a month ago and I'm pretty sure they forgot to reconnect it as it worked before I had my clutch replaced. I've searched all over Google and can't come up with anything concrete. Or any diagrams showing where it is located.

most explanations I've found say its to the right and down from the bell housing of the transmission if your standing at the drivers side fender. However the only thing I can see connected is the reverse light switch.

If someone could post a picture or a better explanation of where it is on the transmission, I'd greatly appreciate it. Mine is a 5 speed without ABS. Thanks!

I would go back to where you had the clutch serviced and complain.

I would, but the shop where the work was done is 4 hours away in my hometown. they've already said they'd fix it for free. But If its as easy as plugging in a connector I should be able to do it myself and minus the 4 hour drive.

Click on the link and scroll down to section 17 (b) and check the drawing for the "speed sensor connector".

I think it's about on the portion of the housing that extends out back for the axles to hook in to; I guess that's the differential. This is where it's at on an automatic. It looks like it's on top of that near the main body and bellhousing of the transmission.
