[*]well sort of.... my son who works for Toyota found it for me. So excited. What's your favorite new vibe story? Can't wait for the weekend to go to MN for it!
Congrats Betsy! Can't wait to see some pics of your new Vibe.
As for new Vibe stories, don't they all have a story! When we were looking for a car for my son, we had no idea, except he wanted something he could haul his band equipment in, so a small SUV most likely. Then one day I saw a silver Vibe at a dealer. Bingo! I drove it home to let him test it and see how he liked it, and it was a hit. We didn't get that one since it was previously wrecked and had only been cosmetically repaired (new front fender, but no under hood repairs!).
So I spent the next couple of weeks looking for a Vibe or Matrix, since I found out they were the same basic car. Found a couple at a local Mazda dealer and was planning to go and probably buy one of them, when I looked one more time and found a silver 06 Vibe at a dealer 50 miles away with only 7,800 miles. Was owned by an older couple that traded cars every 18-24 months. Mint, certified, well priced. Another family had just looked at it and were thinking about it, but did not put a deposit down. I threw my then 6 yr old twins in my car, and raced to the dealer. Took a quick test drive, it was a new car really, still under warranty, and put down $200. Picked it up the next week and that started our Vibe odyssey.
When I ended up needing a new car after my Mustang motor broke, I decided I wanted a 09-10 Vibe GT. Looked for weeks and called on several, but they were either sold, or too much. I kept watching one red 2010 GT located in a small town just south of Dallas, and they kept dropping the price. $13,900.... $13,500.... $12,900, so I called. 36K miles, not even 2 yrs old. No one was buying small sporty cars in that town, plus it had a couple of interior defects, a hole in the seat and broken rear hatch plastic. They dropped it to $12,400, so my daughter an I took a road trip. Took a test drive, signed the paperwork and drove it home.
After the 10 GT was totaled 2 yrs later, I decided the next one would be a manual GT. So after a couple more weeks of looking, I found the blue one in San Antonio. Looked great, 207K miles, mostly highway. Well maintained, for $2,900. Sold. I wanted a cash car this time since we bought my daughter a new car a few weeks prior. So far it has been great too, except for the defective clutch it had.
Good luck with your new Vibe Betsy!

Welcome to GenVibe Betsy! My best "new Vibe" story is when I went to the dealership to pick up my new 2009 Vibe GT back in may of 2009. It was a Thursday night and most dealerships are open late on Thursdays, so I arranged to pick up the car in the evening. Before I headed out to the dealership I opened up the days mail and one of the letters was from GM stating that I was able to use ALL of my GM card earnings effective immediately. This was just as I was heading to pick up the car. So instead of the "capped" amount of $1000, I was instead able to use $4650 of earnings to further reduce the sale price down to an incredible $14960. Not a bad price for a new Vibe GT which had a MSRP of $22700 Now that's a story that I will NEVER be able to duplicate!
Post pics when you get a chance and update profile showing your location. Welcome to GenVibe!
