Good Deal??

Post by johns560 »

I am interested in purchasing a VIBE. I found one that is a 2003 AWD with moon and tunes package and 7,800 miles. Is $15500 a fair price?!

I would think that is a very fair price.

If there are no other options, '04s are about $18500, so your price seems fair.

I think the price is so so. you should be able to find a new one for just couple of thousands more.as of today (9/30), there is a $2000 (on 2003, see gmbuypower.com) rebate, so your out door price at invoice is then about $18,000. up till 09/02, there were also a $1000 loyalty discount (or at least a $500 conquest rebate even if you don't own a GM), so if you bought early September, the price is $17,000. which is only $1,500 more than $15,500.here in southern California, quiet a few Vibes are going for under invoice (I got mine for $1000 under invoice). so I think the price of $15,500 is not a great price. you might want to wait a bit to see if GM comes up with any more rebates. or haggle with whoever selling the car.

Ask yourself if you really need AWD. With the price of gas/insurance the price should be lower to make it worth your while.

he wanted to know if it was a fair price. it is fair, there is no arguing that. is it the cheapest price possible? no. there is always a better deal somewhere, but you could spend months looking for it. if you can afford it, go for it.besides, with that many miles, it's still brand new. wouldn't interest be lower on a used one?

You are right drunkenvibe. That is a good deal for an AWD. Interest rates are higher for a used vehicle. It is very hard to buy used these days when you are making payments. The payments may be close to the same with say $1000 down. Cash money it will not matter.

Thanks for the input....I believe it is a good deal also. I have spent a lot of time researching and found that you can get base models cheaper but the AWDs are harder to find. We feel we need the AWD for the winter driving conditions in a round trip commute to work of 80 miles/day. We liked the gas mileage and the crash test and safety ratings. This particular one is loaded with all of the xtras. This vehicle only has 7,800 miles and it was purchased last 12/02 for $21,500. It is basically a "new" car. I went to the dealer a they quoted $22,000 including tax, title, etc. for 2004 with 0% over 5 years. or rebates which I believe was 1500. I have no car to trade in and with depreciation i was like thanks but no thanks. I am new the VIBE scene but loved the test drives. Anyone have any real complaints on them? other than the usual ones I have seen re: the engine power, rear view blind spots, and rattle in the dash.

He is asking if this is a fair deal, NOT if Vibe is a good car or not !!

yes, but the one he is looking at is loaded, lots of extra cash, after tax a loaded awd is close to 26,000 w/out rebates and whatnot

According to GMBuypower, there is an AWD at the Freeland Dealer. You could see what type of price he is asking. It is Lava, M&T, power, side airbags, aluminum wheels. Sticker is $22560. I would guess that you could get it close to employee pricing.

Thanks for the info. everyone. I appreciate everyones honest opinions. The closest I could find for a NEW 2004 AWD M&T loaded was 22000 before a rebate of 2000 or 0% financing over 60 months. AWDs are harder to come by, maybe it is the area one lives in. The AWD itself is worth $2000-3000 just for the option. The one I am looking at was purchased 10 months ago for 21500 out the door. The depreciation on these things is a bit of a concern to me. It seems the way to go is to buy used but nearly new. The Vibe I am looking at basically has two oil changes worth of miles on it! I am going to check it out and take it for a test drive. If it is in excellent condition, we will probably get it. I am sure I will be back on here to chat and talk about Vibes! Anyone heard of a better interest rate than 4.25% on used vehicles financed over 60 months. I have seen 3.69% but that is financing over 36 months.

If you include all these, then the depreciation don't look so bad. 4.25% over 60 months is excellent, you can't beat it.
