1st gen GT owners, question about hitting lift

As you may know, I've had my 03 GT for about a year and a half. During this time, I've had the check engine light on most of the time for the evap emissions system. The car has been running well regardless, but I recently changed the charcoal canister and now I do not have any codes or the check engine light.

Well, I've noticed over the past two weeks that when accelerating in first, I've had the tires occasionally chirp when I hit lift, and then bark like usual when shifting into second. I've tried it several times, you know for scientific testing purposes, and it does not do it every time, but quite often. The roads were dry and smooth cement roads, not something I would think was a slick surface. I did break the tires loose at lift on a wet road a couple of times recently too, something I was not expecting either. The tires are pretty new BFG Touring TAs.

So, is it possible the evap codes caused a reduction in power, and now my car is making max power? This made me wonder how everyone else's GT performs at lift.

Idk about chirping tires, but mine now torque steers slightly since I installed the Injen intake.

Stock 215/50-17. I could see narrower tires having a bit less traction in the dry.

Oh, yes, torque steer is always there. I replaced the cracked back mount and that helped, then installed poly bushings in the motor mounts, and that helped even more in taming the torque steer. Now I don't see saw back and forth when on and off throttle.

age of the tire makes a difference, too...

It was earlier in the day, about 8:30-8:40 or so. Might have been some moisture on the roads still, but it didn't look like it. I've also tested in the late evening on my way home, like 7:00 or so. I'm going to have to do more testing I think.

age of the tire makes a difference, too...

They are not new, but were made in late 2011 and 2012. The 2012 one was brand new - still had the nubbies when I put it on a few months ago. The other had probably less than 10,000 miles on it.

My high performance all seasons are noticeably slicker once temps get below 45o. It's no issue to slip those tires. Which currently means being gentle when pulling out in traffic in the mornings for me. I think I'll need some more testing, as well.

Did it again at lunch, but it was on an asphalt road. Temp was in the 50's. May have been ever so slightly wet since it had been sprinkling a couple hours earlier. I agree, we do need more testing!
