Duraflex roof caps

So I recently got my duraflex roof caps painted. Should of did a test fitment first but didn't. Besides the fact, other than getting the holes screwed and putting them on after the racks are taken off do I need to worry about sealing them at all?

I would seal around any bolts or holes that would lead to a potential leak. How much did you pay for the caps ? I would imagine between the body kit & wheels your ride will look pretty sweet. Post of pics when your done of course

I believe the caps were around 122.00. My ride is pretty nice. It's getting better. Unfortunately after I get my caps on and the spoiler on the top that will probably be pretty close to the end of any modifying I do to this car. I have to start saving those pennies, got a baby on the way. I'll definitely get pictures posted when I'm finished too!

On the 2nd gen, the build is set up to take care of the water. The cap is more of a cosmetic cover and bulk water stoppage, the entire roof rail is made to drain, the rest of the rubber rail is just sitting in the grove. Kinda something you have to see.

They did have locktite on the bolts holding the main rack hardware, but there was nothing else special

The oem caps don't have any sealing material, just plastic clips. the oem surrounds with the rack mounts have no 'seal' either.

The rail under the rubber and coverings drains bulk water, and there is another drain underneath inside the car from the bolt mounts.

There is a large thread for the first gen cap swap. I posted pics of the 2nd gen at the end of it (very similar). The pics give you an idea. I did mine the cheap way without the brackets to hold the clips and used some black window sealant to keep the clips on.

The bolt hole is not welded to the car, there is a large plastic nut on the inside through a hole in the frame. Minor water leakage drains from there, but in generally water shouldn't make it in there.
