Bye bye.............traded in the Vibe GT

Post by old man winter »

Well it has been fun, but I have decided to trade in the Vibe GT. I have always had a soft spot for the Subaru WRX and now I have caved in to the pressure. I was going to spend $1000 CND on winter tires and rims so I could drive in the winter months, all five of them. The mods I was getting quotes on were going to add up to an additional $4000 CDN. This was to get me above 200 hp.This is why I started looking at the WRX again. It will cost me $2500 to bet me out of my lease and I have found a 2002 Silver WRX 5 speed for $460 above dealer invoice. The lease payment will jump by $60 per month and I need $1100 up front.I had lots of fun with the Vibe GT, as it is a true spots car. With the 100 hp per liter six speed along with all the practical features. This is a winner fore sure, and all this for under $30,000 CDN.I have enjoyed this web site and I am sure it will grow as the popularity of the Vibe continues. This is the first time that I have participated in a forum and it was educational and fun. Thanks to all the people who spend their free time to maintain this site and keep us informed and entertained.Good luck to you all.

Sorry to see you go! We all have appreciated your insight and participation in discussions on the forums.Maybe you could post a few pics, once you get your WRX, in The Others forum? You only live once, right? Take care.

Can't argue that the WRX is a bad *** car. Full time all-wheel drive with turbo is hard to turn down. They go wherever you point em' and they can keep up with the best of them. Too expensive for my tastes though,....And ugly....

Well old man winter, it's been fun and hope your trade-in works out for you. Are you going with the WRX sport wagon or sedan?

We are getting the sedan, since we have the Highlander for trips, hauling stuff, and returning empties to the beer store.

I wish you best of luck and your all ways welcome here at the site no matter what you drive. I'm not sure if you were aware but West Covina is making a turbo for the 2ZZ-GE that will put the Vibe GT HP above what the WRX is rated at. Retail Price for WRX : $23,495 Retail Price for GT : $19,340 + $3,500 for turbo = $22,840The Vibe is still cheaper than the WRX and will then out perform it. But what ever you decide I wish you best of luck.

Good bye Old Man Sorry to see a fellow Norther Ontarian get sucked into the Subaru fold. By my count this is two good people from Ontario lost to the WRX allure. I initially wanted the WRX but discovered it was too far out of my tax bracket with all the other competing components of the good life, house, and other fun things. I looked at the base impreza but the dealer was too fixated on list price, $1000 maintenance plans, and tv, bicycle and carribean cruises give-a-ways. When I suggested otherwise, just a discount please, he got abusive and physical. When I contacted Subaru Canada they could care less. So I hope your dealer experience is better than mine was. Good luck Old Man

Thanks..................."I'll be bauk" as Arnie says. I will drop in on the "others" to post pics of the new ride. What I really want is an AWD Vibe with 200 hp............now that would be cool.

My Subaru dealer is driving 150 klicks from North Bay to deliver and do all the paper work here at my house...............not bad for starts.
