Post by hguyer13 »

First off new to the site and would really appreciate some help with this issue..I have a 2006 Vibe 1.8l awd... live in upstate new york and wanna buy some good floorliners for winter... Problem is they r telling me certain ones wont fit... would like some moulded ones that fit like a glove..What is or r there any differences between a regular front wheel drive and the awd when it comes to the floor mats?? Does anyone have my same vehicle and what have u bought that fits correctly?? thanks in advance for any help

First off, Welcome to genvibe!

I'd b e surprised if there were any floor pan differences between the FWD and AWD. I know the exhaust is routed differently, but that's under the floor. I've only ever had FWD Vibes, can't say absolutely positively.

www.weathertech.com only shows one set for a 2006 Vibe, no disclaimer about not for AWD, so I take it they think there is no difference. I've never bought weathertech mats, but I'd buy from them if I was going for that kind of thing. I've only ever heard good things about them, and a big plus (for me anyway) is that they are made in USA

for the 2nd gen, weather tech does listed different mats, so i'd guess if it mattered, they'd note the issue or likely accept a free return.

It probably is only an issue if you get the thinner shape hugging liners molded with all the little humps and bumps.

I found in the 2nd gen that the front mats fit pretty well even though listed as not in the AWD
Driver side seems spot on, Passenger front is the right outside shape, but doesn't sit completely flat so there is likely some molding issue, but once I put it in and let it set, you really would never know.

Part numbers for items mounted to the floor are the same pretty much, seat racks, door sills, or the center console are the same parts, so it's likely to be close that it's eays to live with, especially if you have no other options for your model.

Also, if you don't have all the alternatives to compare, you won't know how close, or how much better it could be. Even with a confirmed fit from the manufacturer, they can still do a half-(removed) job.

My front floor mat goes around the gas tank release, likely by design. I would have rather had a whole in the mat to push the release through the mat, as now there is a chunk of floor unprotected for crap to fall in.

I have WeatherTech mats in both of mine and they fit great. You'll need to ask for a couple anchors for the driver side and remove the factory one.

My Stealth came with some Husky molded liners that were ok, but really cheap compared to the WeatherTechs. They were also slippery when wet.

On the 1st Gen AWD, the rear mats are different than FWD & GT.

Here's an ebay listing for them: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pontiac-Vibe-AW ... bc&vxp=mtr

Pretty sure the fronts are the same as FWD.

I purchased the GM mats 8 years ago and they have been excellent...

Welcome to GenVibe! You have certainly come to the right place to get the info you're looking for ;)! Post some pictures of your Vibe when you get a chance. We love pictures around here :D!

I know GM had two different part numbers for their sets of floor mats for 2nd gen Vibes, one for FWD and one for AWD. As someone else said, I believe the difference may be more with the rear floor mats than the front ones.

We recently did a comparison between the Weathertechs and the Husky Weather Beaters, and the Huskys were better. Put a set in our new Volt, and I'm going to order a set for my daily driver Vibe, too.
