Dash trim overlays

I was just browsing the site at http://www.exoticwooddash.com and ended up ordering the kit of grey/black carbon fiber overlays for the Vibe. Its a 20 piece set and should look pretty nice when installed. They also have a 9 piece set available for about half the price. While I was at it, I then had to order some decals from grafxwerks.com. It should be pretty cool looking when all finished.

I was looking at those kits awhile back. I would be interested to see some pics of the kit installed in your Vibe when it's completed!

I just ordered them this morning so when they come in and I get time to install them, I'd be glad to share some pictures. A friend of mine has a digital camera, I'll have to borrow it.

They came in! And wow, was that fast. Only took 2 days to get them to me (from Scottsdale Ariz. to Pittsburgh PA), and I didn't even order express shipping! I had to install them last night, I couldn't wait anymore. They really look great, IMHO. First class quality of material and very easy to install. Only took me about 1 hour total time (and I'm about the worst case perfectionist you could probably find, might take most people half an hour to 45 minutes to complete, I guess). Only one complaint. They could have cut them to fit better around the two vents in the dash that they surround. But it will pass for me. The ones that go around the power window and door controls on the front doors really look great with the slate interior on the door panels. To me, they were worth the money overall. I think that it really looks cool now that it is done. Now I just have to get my friend down here with his digital camera to take some pics!

Stang2Vibe,Did you ever get these pictures taken? Are you still happy with the quality of the overlay? I am trying to achieve a yellow/black look for my car and an considering the yellow overlays from exoticwooddash.com.

Yes, I'm still very happy with them and have received many compliments on them. They are a better quality than ones I've seen on some other cars. They clean up easily and still look new. I'm so used to them now that when I see the interior of another Vibe, I think to myself, that dash looks strange.....and plain. I'm glad I got them. A word of caution with them though... the two pieces that surround the gauge cluster are rather tricky to install. It is a tight fit to get your hands in position behind the steering wheel while still trying to see what you are doing. And to add to that, the dash is inverted around the gauges so it is a little tougher to line the pieces up for the final fit. But I finally got them in and looking good afterall. I like the carbon fiber look and try to carry it over to other parts, like the GrafxWerks badge overlays for the outside of the car. I got the word Vibe in carbon fiber and the GT in reflective red for the doors and rear hatch door. I love the look. The overlays are slightly smaller than the badge letters, so they look like they have a silver outline around them which makes the carbon fiber ones stand out a little, which I like. Nick took some extreme close-up pics of my overlays with his digicam at the Northeast Rally in Milford, PA if you want to see what they look like. They are posted on this site with the pics from that rally.

Thanks for the response Stang2Vibe. I had exoticwooddash.com send me a sample of the yellow carbon fiber. I didn't like it - kinda looked like wicker. Until I find something I really like, I'm going to hold off.I also got a set of Grafxwerks overlays on my car (yellow, of course). I'm looking to get some more - they really add a nice look to the car.

Hmm...maybe they use a different pattern with the yellow? I have the black and silver. It is supposed to look woven because that is what carbon fiber is--strands of carbon woven with fiberglass. While the dash overlays don't actually contain carbon and fiberglass, they do a good job of replicating the look.I like to play ice hockey, coincedentally, and some new composite hockey sticks are made of carbon fiber. I have a newer Easton Z-Bubble stick that is made with a yellow and greyish-silver carbon fiber. I think that it would make for an awesome look for auto accessories.

I think the problem with the yellow carbon fiber is that they used two different colors of yellow. I just didn't look right. Now, I like the idea of yellow mixed with silver - that would probably be close to the look I'm going for.
