Power windows & sunroof

Post by Jdosman »

Hi, really new and I'm hoping someone can help.
I have a silver 04 vibe, previously had a blue one but a stolen car totalled it.

Anyway a few months ago I was trying to install speakers with my friend who has done the job on every other car I have owned and when I was drilling into the door I heard a weird snap but couldn't find anything wrong.

After competing the speakers the windows and sunroof and gear shifter wouldn't work. I drove it to my regular shop and he has been able to repair the shifter but not the windows.

Winter is over so I took it back to give it another shot and still nothing. I do now all the regulators and fuses and apparently relays are in place but nothing.

Any suggestions? Would a new door solve the issue?

Do not replace the door.

How did the gear shifter not work, and what did they do to fix that?

Sounds like you may have shorted something out. It would be good to look in the door and see if you accidentally drilled into any of the wiring, and if so, insulate any wires you may have drilled into.

Both the sunroof and the power windows get power from the power fuse, so I'd check that
It's a big fuse, in the under dash fuse block. This pic shows which one it is. It may or may not be pink in your car, but in that pic, the other pink 30A fuse is for the rear window defogger. If you have no way to test the Power fuse to make sure it's good, you can swap those two "pink" fuses and see if that fixes the window.

Just remember that if the fuse is blown, and you didn't fix the short circuit causing the fuse to blow, swapping or putting in a new fuse will probably just blow the new fuse too
