I wanted to post this as I don't see much info on it even though it seems to be common problem. I have a 2006 Pontiac Vibe Base 2WD and all four doors open and close without any resistence. The "door check" is the culprit and they're worn out. I went to the junk yard and all the Pontiac Vibes had the same problem. Luckily it looks like the same part is used in the following cars:
-2003-2008 Toyota Corolla (Front and rear)
-2003-2008 Toyota Matrix (Front and rear)
-2004-2009 Toyota Prius (Front door only) (different part no. but is an exact match)
And remember that you don't need to get a specific "left" or "right" part as all you need to do is flip the door check for either side of the door. However, front and back door checks are different parts.
Also I managed to replace mine without removing the door panel completely. I only pulled the buttom and side out and managed to squeeze my hand into the hole to remove and insert the door check once the nuts were removed. (10 mins total)
Good luck!
ps. I'd definitely go for the Toyota door checks because clearly GM sourced their parts from a s***y supplier.
