I immediately thought, ACCIDENT. But no, he was making a turn and his '03 Vibe just stopped. He coasted to the side of the road and tried starting it again, but nothing, Just cranking, cranking, cranking...
So I go over and do the usual. Jump it, check for gas, look for any disconnected cables, leaks, etc.
So I look through the forums and Internet and think maybe fuel pump. Go back and check relays, spray some starting fluid, listen for fuel pump, and still nothing. So I give in and call the tow truck. Takes it to my mechanic and turns out the cables going to the crankshaft position sensor were severed. Apparently while turning, the cables must have fallen somehow and got caught in a belt and it yanked it out of the sensor, so I had to buy a new one.
Connected it right up and good as new. If I would have crawled under there and really looked, I probably could have caught that and figured out what needed replacing and saved the towing fee and labor. Oh well next time.
