Post by huy397 »

Hello fellow Vibe owners What's the image you have for yourselves as a Vibe owners ? Is it any different than the image that GM has ?

I think I know what is being asked...GM marketing probably has a certain "target buyer" for each of their vehicles, and the Vibe is no exception. I think the point of this post was to compare the image of yourself as a Vibe owner with the image GM has of Vibe owners...I was just curious as to what exactly GM's image is.

Thanks for making the clarification I have no idea what GM have in mind for Vibe either, there aren't many commercials, ads for Vibe.Matrix on the other hand has tons of promotion. The one Matrix ad with a mohawk hair-do and a "nose ring" through the grill is really cool.

I'd say the target market is probably young 20-somethings looking to buy their first new car, or close to it.

Mid twenties buyers and first car... to answer your question..... I do not think I fit that demographic. I am mid thirtys (act mid twenties). This is my 4 th new car and my 7 th car.Love my vibe...

I fit it in one way but not the other. I'm 20 (21 in less than a month), and this is my second new vehicle. The first was a lease, though, and this one is all mine.

GM's marketing is way off again. The group of people who like the looks of the vehicle the most is younger buyers. The majority of the people buying this vehicle are the people GM threw aside when they discontiued the wagon. People need vehicles that are versatile. It is too bad the Aztek is so ugly. They could have easily sold over 100,000 vehicles because of the versatility. People need thier vehicles to do more. That is the main reason for the SUV take off. The auto manufactures saw $$$$ and decided to put money into the SUV and minivan. Just like most people who bought vibes which is a huge market that they forgot. All of us do not need room for 7 passengers and the cargo space for 3-4 children. We a economical people who are smart and do not want to waste money on gas. We are all young at heart and want to enjoy what we drive. The car should handle well and have a little zip. We are people that may have children and because of that fact we can not afford their $30,000 plus for a minivan. GM has succeeded in the WOW! factor for the younger crowd and with the older crowd they have the WOW! factor in the fact that the vehicle can do plenty for the money. The Aztek is the biggest bang for the buck. In the long run the Vibe will prevail economically. Insurance+mpg+quality design+resale value because of looks. The Vibe and the Matrix are smart vehicles. An SUV says I have money to (removed) away. The interior of SUV's are about the same size as a vibe for an average of $10,000 more. I will get off of my soapbox now. I am a big fan of the Fuel cell cars.
Just here to lend a hand to people who have questions about their Vibe.

Bang for the buck was a big thing with me, too. I was wowed not only by the looks (although that *was* my initial wow...I hadn't even been with 10 feet of it and was already in love with it) but also but the versatility. It's especially great for a college student who lives in a dorm...makes it a lot easier to move in and out every year because you have a ton of cargo space. And it's INDOOR cargo space, unlike a truck, so you can stop somewhere and not have to worry about someone snatching anything. My mom, however, is considering getting a Vibe now when the lease runs out on her Blazer. She just likes the car. She's got the wow factor on the looks, too, and the performance. I'm my parents only child, and I'm for the most part out of the house, so it's not a "room for kids" thing...she just likes the car. Which is cool with me.
