Msterbee in da house

Post by Msterbee »

Hi all. New member and new 2009 Vibe owner, as of a week ago. Just saying hello.

A few bits of info. I worked at GM Design Center for 12 years including the time period the 1st gen Vibe was being designed. Left in 2000. Been in the auto industry most of my working life. Have a decade of road racing experience under my belt. I work on my own cars. I like having a stealth Toyota. :D

Welcome to GenVibe Msterbee!
We will bug about all the inside stories you might have! But first of all, how about a picture of your Vibe?

What was the most exciting project you worked on at GM?

Welcome!

Is your 2009 Vibe a Base, AWD, or GT?

The Vibe is a 2009 base model but with the 2.4L motor and 17" wheels. 5spd manual, of course. It's super clean, though the radio has already had to come out because no one (including me) noticed that the volume knob wasn't working properly. Also, lost a center cap yesterday - and it had even been glued in with RTV! Curses!!

A couple photos:

Welcome aboard!! Very nice Vibe, I like the color as well. It's too bad about all the center cap issues they had with the alloy wheels, I see Vibes around here with missing caps all the time.

Welcome! Looks really nice, plus a 5 speed manual too! That radio knob is a VERY common problem, but luckily it is a less than $10 fix if you want to fix it yourself. There is a good thread on here with the two methods to repair it if you want to. I did the quick method and used a modified, sanded down new knob on my previous 10 GT.

Good luck with it.

Since the issue existed when I bought it, the radio knob thing is being handled by the dealer I bought it from. Only thing that sucks is there's a hole in my IP while I wait for them to repair the radio itself. *shrug*

If they really knew what they were doing they could fix it while you wait :o Tell them to visit us here and find out the right way to fix this common knob problem! Oh, by the way ... Welcome to GenVibe! We have the identical car except mine is the GT. Gotta love that 5-speed manual, Great find and keep it for a long time :D

Welcome to GenVibe! Your Vibe is quite clean. I like it. Also, there's a radio knob available on Shapeways.com that someone modeled that they claim fixed their issue.
