Strange noise in Dash

Post by shermaner12 »

Hello

For a while now, when i have run my 05 vibe for a few miles, there is a strange squeaky like pumping sound coming from what would sound like under the passenger airbag cover/Behind the glove box.. I'm not sure what it may be. I recently heard some vibes have an airbag recall. Just want to make sure my airbag isn't going to randomly go off.. Any help?

(Can not be heard from other side of firewall. If I open the hood I don't hear the noise.)

Thanks.

Try hitting your recerculation button on and turn the fan up.

It could be the fan motor if it only happens when the fan is on, but it is most likely the recirculation servo. It is a VERY common thing to fail on the 03-08 Vibes. If you push the Recirc button on, it should stop, and that will confirm that it is the problem. The teeth strip and the motor keeps trying to close the flap. It can be replaced, or taken apart and fixed. See the thread on it.

If it is the recerculation, do what I did and just wedge a tooth pic in there so it stays on.lol, works
