Bodywork cost.

Post by DTeck »

Well tonight I had a coworker decide to jump on the front of my 2008 Vibe. He dented the fender and scratched the hood pretty bad. So I'm looking at needing my hood repainted and either the dent repaired or a replacement OEM fender installed and painted. I'm a decent shade tree mechanic but I don't know squat about bodywork, so I was wondering if anybody could give me a ballpark estimate on how much this would cost. Thanks.

Sorry if my spelling or grammar is bad I just got off a late shift and am typing very angrily right now.

Depends on a lot of things. I have a friend that is an estimator for a body shop. His shop did the repairs on my son's Vibe and my daughter's Rogue, and he quoted me about $300 to repaint the hood on my 03 GT. More if I wanted them to blend the fenders, but for a 12 yr old car, I would just be happy having all of the chips filled. Depending on how damaged the fender is, it could be repaired, possibly PDR - paintless dent repair - so it would not even need painting. More than likely it would be several hundred. I would guess $1K total if a good shop did the work. You can always find a cheaper shop to do the work, but then the quality might show. Just take it to a few places for a basic quote.

Good luck!

In the long run everything worked out ok. The parents of the kid that did the damage ended up paying for my Vibe's repairs at a good shop. Thanks for the help.
