Nu Finish OR Zymol liquid wax ???

Post by cptnsolo77 »

Time time pick a new wax so I figured I try something different. I stopped by Walmart and they didnt have too much. Last wax I bought was Meguires NXT and it was very easy to remove. I loved it ! Ease of removal is a must for me. Im trying to cut down on waxing time. I recently got hooked to spray wax but it doesnt last very long and doesnt provide as much UV protection. Now that I work nights my car is out in the sun ALL day. I figure I would use spray wax for the sides of the car ( since it doesnt take a beating like the roof and hood ) And use a good liquid wax for the hood & roof. Anyone have experience with Zymol or NUFinish ?

i'm not a particularly advanced user of waxes/polishes, but i have been using Nufinish on my '10 all along, and have been very happy with the results. it's a fairly easy on/off application process. i apply 2x per year, and my black car gets a pretty good amount of outdoor time and unpleasant michigan winter filthiness.

i too have dabbled with spray waxes and have been disappointed with the quality of finish and longevity of results.

I use and highly recommend Mother's. Their Brazilian Caranuba Cleaner Wax sounds like it would be ideal for you. You may also consider using their Caranuba Wash & Wax when washing the Vibe. I use it and it definitely does help to keep the paint protected with an extra layer of wax in between full on waxings.

Yes I have used Mothers before. Excellent stuff. The last 15 years I have used nothing but Mothers or Meguires. I was just thought maybe I would venture out & try something different. If I dont find something outside of those 2 brands, I will just stick to what I have been buying for years. Thanks for your help though :D

I would dissuade you from using anything other than Maguires or Mothers. I normally use the Maguires Cleaner Wax which is readily found at Walmart and Pep Boys and is very reasonably priced. I have dabbled in the Pep Boys spray-on wax but found them to be useless (sorry M,M&J). "Once a year" wax is useless too because there ain't no way that you are going to go a full year on a wax job. I do my cars about 3 times a year and agree that the most important aspect of any wax is how easy it is to rub off the white haze. As I age, I find an orbital buffer a nice tool to reduce arm fatigue. But it doesn't matter since we're going to get 8 inches of snow here in the Delta Quadrant and it looks like it will be a long time before my spring waxing can be accomplished.
