Found one of the "last Vibes" for sale

Post by trb »

I was looking, as I often do, for a nice 09-10 GT with a manual, and dream...... I found a Vibe manufactured on August 17th, 2009. VIn 5Y2SR6E07AZ420622

I have been running the VINs on Compnine to see the production dates of all the 2010s I find, just to see. First used one I've found that was made on that last day of production. Maybe it is the last orange Vibe? Too bad it is not a manual. :(

I just checked the Autocheck report, it was registered as a rental on Aug 20th, here in Houston!

$13,998? Based on my experience I'd guess that CarMax doesn't have $10,000 in this one, if that. What is 5-1/2 years old and 43,000 miles worth? Wonder what a new 2016 HRV would cost - I have read "about $20,000. Seems like that would be worth the 6,000 or so difference. See http://automobiles.honda.com/hr-v/?SP_R ... ersatility" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
In 2007 CarMax offered me $8,000 for my T&C SWB with 21,500 miles; CarMax was asking about $13,500 on their lots. I sold for $11,500 privately.
In 2012 CarMax offered an estate I was handling $4,500 for a 2002 Buick Century Ltd 4 dr sedan with 22,000 miles. CarMax was asking $10,000 on their lots. Sold it privately for $7,500 and had backup buyers.

Wow ... Either our Vibes really hold their value OR they are trying to rape the next buyer! What they are asking is just under $1000 less than what I paid for mine almost six years ago :o Love that color though, and YES too bad it was not a manual.

I think a lot of people got exceptional deals, and these cars do hold their value a bit. Remember I got $12,870 for my 10 GT with 72K miles, 6 months ago from the insurance. I paid $12,400 for it 3 years ago with 36K. But then again, I've seen a few offered for sale in the $8K-9K range too with under 100K miles. Needless to say, those sold quick.

If I were planning to buy one, I would want to spend under $12K for one with under 50K miles. My credit union would loan up to $14K for that car, so they do hold their value. I would drop that price about $750 per 10K miles.

It's pretty neat to see one of the "last Vibes" for sale! Ignition Orange Metallic is such a neat color :cool:! Hopefully it goes to a good home and the new owner will become a member here.

If I were you I'd buy the car even thou it does not have a manual trans. My wife and I have two Vibe's, a 2003 and 2004 and we sure do love them. Good luck my friend.
