What part is this?

Post by sunshy »

My 08 vibe was unfortunately victim of a "hit and run." :( She's mostly OK but there is a plastic plate or cover hanging down from the front underside of my car. I'd like to screw it back in but am not sure what to use. Since it's plastic, I'm guessing it used some sort of plastic nut and bolt. Any ideas? Don't want this thing to fall off.

You can use plastic clips to hold it up. You can get them at autozone or any auto parts store. They just push in.

Mine got yanked off by a snow drift, I pulled the remaining pins out, then took one of them into the local NAPA store. The have a big book of sample pins and we were able to find the exact match.

Mine had a similar fate, previous owner ran over a deer. The plastic push pin holes were stretched beyond use, so they used black plastic cable ties (UV resistant) to cinch things back up into place. The part shown the splash shield. While you are under the car in that area, check your A/C lines near the radiator. When I redid mine, I found they were very rusty, treated them to prevent future issue.

Hard to tell from the picture is yours a FWD or AWD? I think this is the part you are looking at, they are pretty cheap. If look it over see if it this L shaped piece linked below

Just a follow up. I fixed it with a couple of:

Splash Shield Retainers from Doorman part # 963-231 from Autozone.

Thanks again.
