DRL disable attempt

Ok, looked through some of the threads on disabling the Daytime Running Lights and having the fogs come on with park lights and highbeams. I went with the method for drl disable by taking out the black relay box under dash and cutting pin 6 and splicing to pin 14. I also cut the green wire under steering column and spliced the green wire next to it method for the fogs.

I tested it out in my garage with the ignition in run position but not with the car running. That was a week ago, and it all worked as supposed to. I just noticed today in reflection if truck in front of me that my drl's are off like they're supposed to. It's real cloudy today so I thought I'd turn on the parking lights with the fogs. When I flupped the light switch to marker lights the actual headlights come on. Checked it again later with car not running and still works like supposed to, but doesn't work correctly with car running. Any ideas?? Sorry for long story.

Double checked my connections lastnight and everything looks right compared to the write-ups I found on here.
Cut pin 6 and soldered wire to plug side of pin.


Other end of wire soldered to pin 14.



And green/orange wire cut and plug end of wire soldered to green/white wire.


Not sure what else to do other than put the wiring in the headlight relay back to stock and try one of the other methods of killing the drl's. Only problem with that is the only other two ways I've found to disable drl's also disables the auto headlights. I would like to keep the auto headlights.

Are you sure your board work is upto snuff? Your connections on it look a little messy and appear to be touching multiple points. Perhaps not all the time, but it could happen during a bump or the like. Make sure your board isn't burnt out anywhere. You may want to check all of its connections using a multimeter to be sure there's no break.

I hear ya; thinking I need to get a smaller gauge wire and redo it. Also need to get a new tip on my soldering iron. I know I have a good connection on the plug side and nothing else is being touched. The back side where it's soldered to pin 14 is a little harder to do. Still think I may put it back to stock and then cut the red/white wire to disable drl's and autolights. The more I think about it the more I think I'd prefer to have full control of the lights.
