Monroe Quick Struts again...

Post by dnoishere »

So I'm putting mine on this weekend(1st time)...watched videos and read up as much as I could...I see a lot of discussion about the top bolt breaking before reaching the torque spec....Whats the deal? It's freaking me out since I can't be without the car. Best I can come up with is to under torque them a few pounds...any help or ideas for me? Thanks.

Probably best to just continue the discussion in viewtopic.php?f=20&t=43757" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; instead of splitting/duplicating it here. Still, enough to make me want to avoid Monroe stuts

...yeah okay... I posted on that thread joatmon...I didn't have much problem getting the struts on...busting them loose made me sore though. I replaced the sway bar links...pain in my donkey they were. Allen wrench hole all rusted up, so I had to use channel locks to hold them to get nuts off...the lower ends are maddness to get to...on or off. Also the new ones were 8 mil sized nuts and of course I didn't have that size wrench...hoping the rears will be much easier to do today.
