Hello Vibe Faithful

Post by Toyotiaction »

Hey everyone,

New member here. I am a long uh, loooooooooooooonnnnnnnnngggggggg time lurker. I thought since I've had my car almost 11 years, it was time I joined. I'm shy.

I am the very proud owner of a 2004 Fusion Vibe. I've had it since Nov '03 (since new) and since getting it with 9 miles on it, I have put on a further 154,000.

I love my car because I bought into the marketing hype when it was new and have used it as intended. It is my active sports vehicle for mountain biking, boating, hiking and camping. When it's empty, it is my sports car for blasting through the gears on an empty curving road.

When the adrenaline rush fades, it is my family car for going out to dinner and visiting with family. And of course shlepping to work daily.

It is truly like a swiss Army car. It does everything reliably, comfortably and safely. But you all knew that.

I look forward to posting when I can as I am a serious nut about this car and most cars in general.

I own this and the Jeep in the avatar for the serious AZ trails I tackle. I wrench on them both. Can you guess which one I do more of that on?

Welcome and Nice Vibe...Love the color. If you are asking which one I think requires the most "work" to keep it running.....that would be the jeep hands down! LOL :P

Thanks!

DING-DING-DING!

We have a winner!

All things considered though, it has the old AMC based 2.5 liter and a 5 speed, it is pretty reliable for what it is. Not Vibe reliable. But simple and easy to fix.

Welcome and very nice looking vibe! I'm relieved to hear that you've had it so long and still love it. I just bought one and I really like it. You're right, it is like a Swiss army car. Small but roomy and very versatile.

That's a no-brainer ................................. The TOLEDO built Jeep :x Probably one of my many Jeep friends who had too much the night before, then attempted to build Jeeps the next day. Not a good idea!

Anyways Welcome to GenVibe FINALLY :D Update your profile showing your location (you know where I'm from) as we just could possibly be your neighbor. You have the best color too. I almost bought an 2010 Vibe in the ignition orange color (that's what the 2010 orange was called) but would have lost thousands in new car sales incentives. So I got a 2009 and in the next best color .... RED 8-) Keep visiting us often here and get involved.

Welcome to GenVibe! Glad we can share our enthusiasm over our cars. I wish more cars came in loud colors. Then things wouldn't be so bland (says the owner of a silver car)(Hey! I bought her that way! And I've grown quite fond of my silver car... it's part of her personality)(Yeah, I get it. But the next car has to be a loud color).

I think I'm going crazy.......

Hi toyotiaction!
Welcome to GenVibe! ......Really, I should say: "Congratulations! Finally out of the closet!"

So, you have a Jeep too in order to to keep your wrenching skills sharp? I am looking for a Maserati Biturbo.

Hey. Thanks for posting. Our family has had two vibes. The first one was a 2004 in Fusion Orange. That is a great color. Ours unfortunately got totaled when it was hit by a pickup truck while sitting at a stop light. Nobody hurt. With the money from the insurance company we went straight to the Pontiac dealer only to hear that they had discontinued that color. So we looked at the 5 2008 vibes that they had and picked the one we liked best. Unfortunately all drab colors. Its now my daily driver

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! You guys rock.

Thanks! I went to the dealer for a Salsa. Fusion was parked right next to it. I had to have it. To this day, I don't care how big the parking lot is, I can spot my car within seconds. Ignition orange was awesome too.

Wow! You are brave! Best of luck. Cars are like puzzles, pieces (usually) go in only one way.

I am so sorry for your loss. I swear, I have avoided many accidents by having a bright orange car. You've proved this is not infalible. Fusion, unfortunately was only made for '04 and '05. Glad you got another great Vibe as a replacement.

That was tongue in cheek and the picture was borrowed from cyberspace. But honestly, a car that is completely reliable is also a bit boring.

There is a review on Carsurvey.org:

1984 Maserati Biturbo 2.5 V6 from North America

Faults:

...... the '84 Biturbo was a very difficult car to love.

A lot went wrong, and once one thing was repaired, something else would break. I later came to realize that this car was my dad's way of both interesting me in engineering, and putting my studies to use in the practical world. He knew what he had given me as a HS graduation present. Have no doubt that anyone who is capable of maintaining a good running Biturbo has amazing mechanical capabilities.
..........

At this time I have enough old cars in the family to keep me busy. But should one appear I might bite.
